Contact only searchable after saving contact again in outlook

I created a new Outlook profile as my original profile was corrupted due to a shared mailbox! Once I resynced my accounts on the new profile, I am not able to search the contacts that are in Outlook and on our Exchange Server. I have gone through rebuilding the search index and running repair, no difference. Contact is there, but not found when using search.

When I manually open up the contact by browsing to it and saving it in Outlook. The contact is again searchable? How can I run an update all my contacts back to Exchange and return to a fully working and searchable contact address list?

    Dear @Raj Saksena

    Welcome to the Q&A Community.

Thank you for sharing the details of your concerns. To help me better understand the situation and assist you effectively, could you please share a few details such as:

    1. Could you please confirm whether your account is a Business/Education (This is an organizational account provided by a company or educational institution) or a Personal account?
    2. Have you attempted to export your contacts to a CSV (Comma Separated Values) file and then import them into your new Outlook profile?

In the meantime, here are a few steps you can try:

Make sure you're using the latest version of Outlook, as updates often resolve bugs that affect search functionality. You can check for updates under File > Office Account > Update Options > Update Now. Then you could reopen Outlook and try again.

Please also verify that Cached Exchange Mode is enabled by going to File > Account Settings > Account Settings.

    • Selecting your new account, clicking Change, and ensuring the checkbox is selected.

    • Ensure your new account is set as the default in both “Email” and “Data Files”.

Also, check your search settings under File > Options > Search. You can try either of these two options and test whether the search function is working properly.

Lastly, confirm that Outlook is included in your indexing locations by opening Indexing Options, clicking Modify, and ensuring Microsoft Outlook is checked.

If the issue persists, you may want to repair your Office installation via Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features, then right-click Microsoft Office and choose Change or Repair.

If you proceed with this step, all app settings and saved login information will be reset. This means you may need to reconfigure your preferences and sign in again after the reset.

We recommend backing up any important settings or data beforehand, if possible.

I need to understand why my contact list is showing the same records as duplicates? It seems like the search is displaying the same record multiple times. There is no duplicate in contacts.
