Hello! Lee , Kimberly here, and I’m eager to jump in and help you fix this.
Got it, migrating from Skype for Business to Microsoft Teams can be confusing because the Calls tab isn’t always visible by default. Here’s how to get it:
How to get the Calls tab
Check if you have a Teams Phone license
In Teams, click your profile picture → Manage account → Subscriptions (or check with your IT admin).
If you don’t see Teams Phone, you won’t get a dial pad.
Ask your IT admin
If this is a work account, ask them to:
Assign you a Teams Phone license.
Assign you a phone number in Teams Admin Center.
Update your App setup policy to include "Calls."
Personal (free) Teams accounts
Personal accounts do not have a Calls tab with PSTN dialing. You can only make Teams-to-Teams calls (via Chat or Contacts).
Once enabled
Restart Teams after the license/policy is updated.
You should then see Calls in the sidebar, with:
Dial pad
Contacts
Voicemail
Quick workaround for now:
Even without the Calls tab, you can still call teammates by going to Chat → Select a contact → Click the video or phone icon.
But for true phone calling (PSTN dialing, external numbers), you need the Teams Phone license.
Should you have more questions, please let me know.
Best regards,
Kimberly
