I have tried everything, disc clean ups etc. nothing works, I have seen it go past 96% once and never again, even after hours of waiting. Last time it got past 96% on the "getting things ready" phase it was stuck on the downloading phase on 30% for 3 hours. I have tried the manual updater and media creation tool around 10 times, and all those times it has said "installation failed" I do not know what to do. I have watched many youtube tutorials and yet it seems to do nothing at 96% my CPU is usually at around 20%. I follow tutorials properly and am not an old person who is extremely crappy at computers, but I just am stuck with no way of updating my computer.

    Hi,

My name is Igor, it's a pleasure for me to help others and I'll try to help you. I am merely a fellow user trying to provide insight and information that may be helpful to others.

You may use SetupDiag tool for detailed analysis of the problem.

If it will be hard for you to interpret results, please share them to OneDrive, I'll look into them.

Setupdiag dos not show the result, it creates three files, likely in the same folder.

Ok. Before retrying the setup, please do the following:

1] From admin Command Prompt, run:

    bcdedit

    Post the output.

2] Open Disk Management and maximize it. Adjust the column widths in the top pane to make all the entries visible. Post a screenshot.

3] Share your Farbar scan logs for analysis.

    • Download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool 64-bit FRST64.exe
    • If the OS language is not English, rename FRST64.exe to FRST64English.exe.
    • Run the program. Don't check or uncheck any options. Click "Scan".
    • Add the two logs, FRST.txt and Addition.txt, to a zip archive.
    • Share the zip file on OneDrive or GoFile.io, and post the link here.

Note: If Microsoft Edge or Chrome mislabels the Farbar Scanner executable as PUA/malware, choose to keep it by tapping … in the bottom bar, choosing Keep, and then choosing Keep anyway in the dialog that appears. See this screenshot. It's a safe tool used in most antimalware forums.

Please move setupdiag from root folder to some nested folder and rerun it. the check new files in this folder and C:\Windows\Logs\SetupDiag\SetupDiagResults.xml file.
