Hey Andri,
Thanks for reaching out! I totally get how annoying it is when your Surface Pro 8 suddenly stops connecting to your LG 32SR50F monitor especially after an update. You're not alone in this, and I'm here to help you sort it out.
What Might Be Going On
After a recent update, your Surface might be having trouble recognizing external displays due to changes in USB-C behavior, driver updates, or even display settings getting reset. It’s frustrating, but thankfully, there are a few things we can try.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to get your monitor working again:
Restart Everything
Power off your Surface and monitor.
Unplug both from power for about a minute.
Plug them back in and turn them on.
Check Your Cable
Use a high-quality Thunderbolt 4.0 or HDMI 2.0+ cable.
If you're using an adapter, make sure it's an active one (not passive).
Try a different cable or port if you have one.
Force Windows to Detect the Monitor
Go to Settings and gotto System (Display).
Scroll down and click Detect under “Multiple Displays.”
Clear Display Cache (Advanced)
Open Registry Editor and go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers
Delete the folders named Configuration and Connectivity.
Restart your Surface.
Check the Monitor’s Input Source
On your LG monitor, make sure the input is set to HDMI or USB-C whichever you're using.
Update Surface Drivers Manually
Head to the Surface Pro 8 Drivers page.
Download and install the latest firmware and drivers.
Try Another Monitor
If you have access to another monitor or TV, test your Surface with it to see if the issue is specific to the LG.
Let me know if you want help with any of these steps or if you'd like me to check your cable specs. We’ll get this sorted out together!
