How can I log back into my pc?

After restarting my PC, I was suddenly unable to sign in using my PIN. Recently, I reset my password, but the new password doesn’t seem to update on the login screen.

This issue started after I tried to download Battlefield 6, which required me to change some files/processes via Task Manager. Now, I can’t access Command Prompt from the login screen or get back into my PC to fix the problem.

Could you please help me regain access and resolve the PIN/password issue?

Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

You will have to use the Administrator password on the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) screen. That is the password you used during the initial Windows Setup process. (Current Password will not work on WinRE).

If you have decided to do a clean installation of Windows 10 using a Bootable USB media drive,

    1. May I please know how you created one, using the Windows Media Creation Tool?
    2. Do you get any error message when booting your device from the USB drive?

Make sure your USB bootable drive is set as the first option in the boot priority list.

If you have made any changes to the BIOS, reset it to default settings, then update the boot drive priority and try booting your device from the USB again.

Let me know if you still need more help.

Hi, if possible, use a Windows PC and create a Bootable USB installation media drive using the Media Creation tool. This should work.

Hi, the only option available (without losing your personal files) is:

Create a Windows 10 bootable USB installation media on another Windows PC. (Make sure to format the USB drive first.)

Insert the USB drive into your device and boot from it.

When the Windows setup screen appears, select "Repair your computer" instead of "Install Windows".

Your device will then start in the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE).

From there, you can try System Restore, Startup Repair, or Reset this PC (while keeping your personal files).

You will not be asked for the administrator password in this process.

    Hi,

May I please know what all the troubleshooting options you have tried from the Windows Recovery environment?

    • System Recovery
    • System Restore
    • Boot into safe mode.
    • i am now unable to boot from my internal hard drive. - You will have to change the Boot order in BIOS. Move the hard drive partition to no.1 in the boot priority lists.
