Hi everyone,

I’m having trouble installing Microsoft 365 Apps (Word, Excel, Outlook) on my Windows 11 PC, which I use to manage content for my Texas Roadhouse Menu website. During the install process, it gets stuck at “We’re getting things ready” and never finishes.

Details:

  • OS: Windows 11 Pro, Version 23H2 (fully updated)

Microsoft 365 Subscription: Business Standard

Installer: OfficeSetup.exe downloaded from Microsoft 365 admin portal

Internet: Stable (tested with wired + wireless)

Use case: I mainly need Word + OneDrive to edit and sync documents for my website’s blog posts.

Troubleshooting I’ve tried:

Ran the Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant (didn’t solve the issue).

Uninstalled previous Office versions using the official removal tool.

Disabled antivirus/firewall temporarily.

Tried both online and offline installers.

Still no luck — the installer either hangs or closes with no error message.

Has anyone else had this issue with Microsoft 365 install on Windows 11? Is there a log file I can check to see what’s blocking it? I need to get this working so I can manage my Texas Roadhouse site content smoothly — especially since more customers are asking about payment options like Apple Pay, and I came across some helpful details on this website.

Did you successfully uninstall the broken installation from your PC, using the removal support tool? If the support tool failed, with or without error messages, you probably have to resort to a manual uninstall. Hi @Emily Jack,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A Forum.

Based on your description, could you please check your disk space to ensure there's enough available to install Office?

In the meantime, I'd recommend a few options below which may helps.

1- You can try force quit and restart by press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager. Find any Office-related processes, right-click, and choose End Task. Then restart your computer and try installing again.

2- Right-click the Office installer (.exe) file and select Run as administrator to give it elevated permissions.

3- If you're already uninstall office by using remover tool, it may still have hidden broken installation files in your computer, you can try combine manual uninstall by follow these links:

3- You can check compatibility mode by right-click the installer > Properties > Compatibility tab. Enable “Run this program in compatibility mode for” and try the older windows version (such as windows 8) then click Apply and try the installer again.

4- You can run the repair existing Office (if installed) by go to Control Panel > Programs and Features > Microsoft Office > Change > Choose Quick Repair (if still not work, you can try the Online Repair)

I hope this helps, if you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to let me know.
