Putting old Paint 3D program file package onto tablet from flash drive

I will ONLY use Paint 3D for drawing. Yes I know it’s not in the store anymore. But I have a PC-ready downloadable program file on a flash drive that has worked to put on a PC that doesn’t already have it.

Here’s the issue though. My PC (which is very old) has an unfixable software issue with its touchscreen now. I don’t want to buy a whole new computer since otherwise it is still a powerful and fast computer. So I was going to go for a tablet to see if I can have something cheaper just for drawing. Can you plug a flash drive into a tablet (Surface-specific or just any tablet if possible) and transfer the Paint 3D program file for installation?

    Alyssa,

The other response to your question is not quite correct.

That old Paint 3D program may or may not be compatible with the newer Snapdragon ARM powered Surface tablets. I don't know if the emulation mode on the ARM based tablet supports this program. You should probably be ok with an Intel based Surface device. You do not need the USB installer to install on an Intel based computer as you can actually get the 3D Paint program from Github https://github.com/thedoggybrad/Paint3DArchive/releases/download/b2/2024.2410.13017.0.AppxBundle

    Hi Alyssa,

Thanks for writing to the Community. Yes, you can definitely transfer and install Paint 3D from a flash drive onto a tablet, but you'll need to consider the type of tablet you're using. If you're using a Surface tablet, like the Surface Pro or Surface Go, you're in luck. These devices run the full version of Windows, which means they can easily handle USB drives and apps like Paint 3D.

Just plug in your flash drive directly if your Surface has a USB-A port. If it only has a USB-C port, a simple USB-C to USB-A adapter will work just fine. After you connect it, you can copy the Paint 3D installer and run it just like you would on a regular PC. Since Surface tablets also support touch and stylus input, you'll enjoy a great drawing experience, much like you do on your computer.

Hope this helps. If you have more questions feel free to reply to this thread.

    Regards,

    Res
