This is a copy of the emails that end up in my junk folder:

[@gmail.com] ([@gmail.com]) <[mailto:******@gmail.com]> The recipient's mailbox is full and can't accept messages now. Please try resending your message later, or contact the recipient directly.

    Dear @Jeff Gale,

Thank you so much for contacting Microsoft Q&A Forum.

Please understand that our forum is a public platform, and we will modify your question to cover your provided email address in the description. Please notice to hide these personal or organization information next time you post error or some information to protect personal data.

Based on your description, it seems like when someone sends you an email, a bounce-back message (like “recipient's mailbox is full”) is also sent to you. That bounce-back message is addressed to someone else (e.g., ******@gmail.com) and these messages end up in your junk folder. This issue may cause by email forwarding setting, email rules in Outlook or transport rules in Exchange Admin Center so if someone sends an email to you and it's also forwarded to ******@gmail.com, and that mailbox is full, you’ll get the bounce-back.

Therefore, I have several suggestions that you can check if they can help:

    1.Check Forwarding setting:

    • If your email address is personal account, please access your email account via a web browser on your computer. You can log in directly at outlook.live.com, then navigate to Settings (Gear icon) > Mail > Forwarding and IMAP. Once there, verify whether email forwarding is enabled and check for any unfamiliar forwarding addresses (such as ******@gmail.com) and you can remove those email addresses to stop forwarding to them. Additionally, ensure that the option to retain a copy of forwarded emails is activated.

    • If your email is business account (work or school) account, you can go to Setting icon > Mail > Forwarding to check it. User's image

    2.Check email rules in Outlook:

    • If your account is personal account, you may navigate to Settings (Gear icon) > Mail > Rules on outlook.live.com to review any existing email rules. Please carefully examine this section for any suspicious or unauthorized rules that may have been configured.

    • If your account is business account, check the Inbox Rules in Outlook, please click Settings icon > Mail > Rules to see if there are any rules may cause this issue.

3.For the Transport rules, only business account has this feature, you can check it in Microsoft 365 Exchange Admin Center. Mail flow rules that might cause this forwarding email. (If your account is not Global Administrator, please kindly contact your IT admin in your organization to check it for you).

    Wish you a pleasant day!

Somehow this person's email had got into my computer and thanks to Microsoft support, we found it in Manage Rules and Alerts. Once I deleted it that solved the problem!
