I still can't access my passwords after the forced migration. Has anyone had any luck with this yet?

    Hi @Jenni B,

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your experience with us. I understand how frustrating it can be not being able to access your saved passwords after the forced migration.

Here are a few steps you can try:

    1. Check your account sign-in
      • Please make sure you’re signed in with the same Microsoft Account (personal or work/school) that was previously used to store your passwords.
    2. Verify Sync settings
      • In Microsoft Edge, go to Settings > Profiles > Sync and ensure that Passwords are enabled.
      • If they already are, try turning Sync off, sign out, sign back in, and then enable Sync again.
    3. Check the Microsoft Password Manager
      • Your passwords may have been migrated to Microsoft’s Password Manager.
      • You can review them here: Microsoft Password.
    4. Clear cache and restart
      • Sometimes the data doesn’t load correctly until the browser cache is refreshed.
      • Clearing cache/cookies and restarting Edge may help.
    5. Update Edge
      • Go to Settings > About Microsoft Edge to make sure you’re running the latest version.

If you’ve gone through these steps and still don’t see your passwords, I recommend contacting Microsoft Support directly so they can investigate your account migration details:

Hope this helps, and please let us know if you’re able to get your passwords back after trying the above.

    Hello Jenni B,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A and informed us about the issue. I understand that after the migration you're not able to view/access your password, in order to tackle this issue please follow these methods:

    1. Force a manual sync:

    • Go to edge://settings/profiles > Sync > Enable Passwords > Sign out then log back in

    2. Restore Password from Local Backup:

    • Go to edge://settings/profiles > Passwords > Check under Saved passwords, if visible, export immediately.

    3. Check Credential Manager:

    • Search Credential Manager in the Windows search box > Web credentials > Look for entries like Microsoft Edge or edge:// > then click Show and input your Windows login password to view the saved passwords
