Azure Virtual Machines
An Azure service that is used to provision Windows and Linux virtual machines.
Nothing works. I deleted the vm machine without hard and create new one.
My virtual machine doesn't start property

My virtual machine is not accessible. I need proper help
The only error I have is that: The status agent cannot be started

The message “The status agent cannot be started” in Azure VM usually means that the Azure VM Agent inside the guest OS isn’t running properly. This is the component responsible for reporting health/status and enabling extensions, and if it fails, you might not be able to use extensions, reset password, or run scripts.
Could you please let me know few details:
- What OS is your VM running (Windows / Linux, and which version)?
- Do you still have RDP (Windows) or SSH (Linux) access to the VM, or is all remote access blocked?
- Was this VM recently updated, resized, or had any extensions installed?

- No. I cannot access the machine
- Was this VM recently updated, resized, or had any extensions installed?
- Yesterday machine worked and I suspect a new recent update
- What OS is your VM running (Windows / Linux, and which version)?

I apologize for the delay in response.
Your Windows 11 Azure VM is inaccessible, RDP doesn’t work, and the Azure Guest Agent “status agent” cannot be started. This is a known failure scenario when Windows Updates or extensions corrupt the agent or break networking.
Check Boot Diagnostics: Go to Portal → Your VM → Boot diagnostics → Look for signs of update failures, BSOD, or stuck boot.

Under Settings, click Extensions + applications. Look for MicrosoftMonitoringAgent or Windows Azure Guest Agent. If the status is Not Ready or Failed, the agent is not functioning properly.
Restart or Reinstall VM Agent: If you can access the VM via a serial console or recovery environment, try:
- Restarting the VM Agent service (
RdAgentservice). - Running repair or reinstall of the VM Agent MSI installer.
- After reinstallation, verify the
RdAgentservice is running.

Have you checked the Boot Diagnostics for both the previous and new VM? What did it show?
Are there any specific error messages you're seeing during the boot process?
What type of storage are you using for the VM (standard HDD, SSD, Premium SSD)?Also, please check the private chat and provide your details there.
