Inquiry Regarding Non-Availability of Latest Models in Copilot Studio

Dear Team,

Currently using a paid license for Copilot Studio and have access to GPT-4. However, I’ve noticed that other newer models are not available within the platform. I would like to understand whether access to the latest models (beyond GPT-4) is included in the paid Copilot Studio license, or if there are additional steps or subscriptions required to enable them.

Could you please clarify the availability of these models and guide me on how to access them if they are supported?

Hello W C H Bagya Perera,
Access to the latest models in Copilot Studio depends on Microsoft’s rollout and your tenant’s configuration. A paid license does not guarantee immediate access to every new model. No extra steps are needed unless Microsoft announces them, but you can use Azure OpenAI for more flexibility if you have access.

How to Check and Enable New Models

In Copilot Studio, go to your bot’s settings or the generative AI configuration section and check the list of available models.
If newer models are not listed, they are not yet supported in Copilot Studio for your tenant.
If you have an Azure OpenAI subscription, you may be able to connect it and select from a broader set of models (subject to your Azure resource’s model availability and quotas).

After switching to a paid Copilot Studio license, access is typically governed by the standard licensing terms, which may not include newer or preview models by default.

Microsoft sometimes offers broader model access in trials to showcase capabilities, but restricts them in production environments until official support, licensing, and compliance are in place.
