When on my ipad, on Microsoft edge, signed in on outlook word, when I try to select words and/or sentences and then delete, it will only delete one letter instead of whole area selected. This has never happened before to me.

Hello Andrew. You are experiencing a known issue that impacts Word Online on mobile browsers, specifically Microsoft Edge on iPads. Since the last update, users have been reporting that when editing or selecting text and deleting it, they sometimes are only deleting a single character after hitting the delete key, even though they have selected a full sentence. This issue seems to be related to the interaction of the editing session with autosave and touch input.

There is no permanent fix as of yet from Microsoft, but here are some workarounds:

    1. Use Safari or Chrome temporarily-some users find the issue to be less frequent there.
    2. Use the native Word app for iPad which has a more reliable method for selecting text.
    3. Turn off autosave if you can or pause for a moment prior to hitting delete after selecting text.
    4. If the issue is present, you can report it to Microsoft directly through the feedback portal and this is used to escalate bugs like this to the developers.

    Best regards,

Hello! I'm sorry you're having trouble with this. If you're trying to select words by double-tapping, this will happen. However, if you hold your finger on a word until it's selected, it will work as expected. You'll notice that the selection process looks slightly different when you do it this way.
