Hi TONKIN Flynn,
I'm Hendrix, here to help with your query on the Microsoft Q&A forums.
Apologies for any inconvenience you are experiencing. I am happy to help you today.
If you cannot log in with any admin account and need to restore admin privileges, try the steps below:
1 - Boot into Windows Recovery Environment
- Restart your PC.
- While it’s restarting, hold the Shift key and click Restart from the login screen or Start menu.
- This opens the Advanced Startup Options menu.
2 - Navigate to Command Prompt
- In the menu, go to: Troubleshoot → Advanced options → Command Prompt.
- Your PC will restart and ask you to choose an account to continue. Select your account and enter the password.
3 - Enable Built-in Administrator Account
- In the Command Prompt window, type:
net user administrator /active:yes
- Press Enter. You should see the command completed successfully.
4 - Restart and Log In
- Close Command Prompt and restart your PC.
- On the login screen, you’ll now see an account named Administrator.
- Log in to this account (it has no password by default).
5 - Fix Your Account Permissions
Once logged in as Administrator:
- Open Settings → Accounts → Family & other users.
- Select your main account → Change account type → Administrator.
- Apply changes.
