Add Ukrainian language to Outlook for macOS

Currently, Outlook for macOS does not support the Ukrainian language in its interface. This is a significant limitation for Ukrainian users who rely on Microsoft products daily.

It is important to add Ukrainian localization, as Microsoft Teams on macOS already supports the Ukrainian language. Consistency across Microsoft applications would improve user experience, accessibility, and inclusivity for Ukrainian-speaking professionals.

Could you please provide an update on whether Outlook for macOS will receive Ukrainian language support, and if so, when this feature might become available?

    Hi Oleksii Bahniuk

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A Forum!

Have a good day and I hope you're doing well!

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your feedback on the lack of Ukrainian language support in Outlook for macOS. I truly appreciate you taking the time to highlight this issue, and I understand how frustrating it must be to rely on Microsoft products daily without full language accessibility, especially for Ukrainian-speaking professionals like yourself. It's a significant limitation, and we're committed to improving inclusivity across our applications.

Based on our investigation and your description, I've looked into this further. As you may know, the Office for Mac user interface (including menu items, buttons, and Help content) typically changes dynamically based on your macOS operating system preferences. For instance, setting the system language to French would display Office apps in French. To change the system language, you can follow these steps:

    • Click the Apple menu, then select System Preferences (or System Settings in newer macOS versions).
    • Go to Language & Region.
    • Click the + sign under Preferred languages, select the desired language (e.g., Ukrainian), and click Add.
    • Confirm if you want to make it your primary language, or drag it to the top of the list.
    • Restart your Mac for the changes to take effect.

That said, I tested this on a machine running Outlook version 16.99.2 (25072714) which is nearly the latest available and switched both the region and language to Ukrainian. Unfortunately, as you pointed out, Outlook did not adapt to the Ukrainian interface, unlike Microsoft Teams on macOS, which does support it more consistently. This confirms the current limitation you're experiencing, and I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

In the meantime, if you're looking for a more convenient option with full Ukrainian language support, I recommend using the Outlook web version. For business accounts, access it at outlook.office.com; for personal accounts, use outlook.live.com. You can easily set your preferred language via Settings > General > Language and time, which will optimize your experience with a fully localized Ukrainian interface until the macOS app is updated.

We'll continue to monitor this closely and observe for any updates from our development teams. If there are any changes or progress on adding Ukrainian language support to Outlook for macOS, I'll make sure to follow up with you directly. In the meantime, I encourage you to regularly check for updates in Outlook (via Help > Check for Updates) and the Mac App Store to ensure you have the latest features as they roll out. You can also refer to the update history and download the newest versions here: Update history for Office for Mac. This will help you stay informed about any potential additions, such as expanded language support for Ukrainian users.

To help Microsoft prioritize this fix for Ukrainian language integration in Outlook for macOS, I encourage you to submit feedback directly. This can amplify your voice and influence future updates:

Within the Outlook app: Go to Help > Feedback > Report a problem (be sure to include your Outlook version, macOS details, and steps to reproduce the language issue, such as changing system preferences without UI adaptation) or through the Microsoft Feedback Portal

Your feedback is invaluable in helping us prioritize improvements like this. If you have any additional details, questions, or other concerns, please don't hesitate to reply. We're here to help. I hope the information I've provided will be partially helpful to you.
