Microsoft Edge Completely Broken – Need Help

Hello everyone,

I’m having a serious problem with Microsoft Edge on Windows 11, and nothing I’ve tried so far has fixed it.

Here’s what’s happening:

The new tab page takes about 3 seconds to load.

Most icons on the new tab page are unclickable, and many show as broken image placeholders.

The built-in VPN doesn’t work at all — it refuses to turn on.

I cannot install any extensions. Every time I try to add one, the process fails.

What I’ve tried:

Uninstalled and reinstalled Microsoft Edge.

Completely removed Edge from my PC and reinstalled it fresh.

Used the “Repair” option for Edge.

Even tried repairing Windows 11 itself via the repair option in Windows Update.

Unfortunately, none of these attempts worked. Edge is still broken in the same way.

Has anyone else experienced this or found a fix? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

It's possible that your installation of O&O ShutUp10 is causing a conflict with the Edge browser and Microsoft may have detected your restrictions on sending data to them.

Please try to Perform a Clean Boot of Windows

Determine whether a background program or a software conflict is causing the issue.

Press Windows key+R to open Run then type: msconfig

    Press Enter

Select System Configuration > go to the Services tab.

(Important) Select and make sure to put a check mark on "Hide all Microsoft services"

    Click Disable all.

Go to Startup tab > Open Task Manager > Disable all the unnecessary services running there. Restart your computer.

Please check the support article at the link below for more details.

If the issue is recent, you can try doing a System Restore to an earlier date when everything was still working.

Press Windows key+R to open Run then type: rstrui.exe

Press Enter. This will open System Restore

    Click the Next button.

Select the restore point at an earlier date where everything is still working.

    Click Next then Finish

If this does not work, you may need to consider doing a Reset this PC with Keep my files option.
