Azure Universal Print - QR Release not working

Hey and Sorry could not find the category for Azure Universal Print.

I have a bizhub C300i printer setup, direct printing works fine but when setting it up to release via QR Code it does not work. The Universal Print is installed on the printer.

When scanning the QR Code, it detects the printer but the job is not found. I checked online and it keep saying the printer supports it but I seem to not get the QR print release functionality to work when switching to that method.

Any ideas would be massively appreciated

    Hi Mohammed Nabeel Yousaf,

Thanks for your question on the Microsoft Q&A portal!

Please find the solution for the QR code release not working on your bizhub C300i printer with Azure Universal Print.

Here is what might be happening and how you can fix it:

    • Make sure your printer is properly registered in the Universal Print portal, and that the QR code release option is turned on for your printer. You’ll find the QR code in the portal—print it out and put it by the printer for users to scan. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/universal-print/fundamentals/universal-print-qrcode
    • The person scanning the QR code needs a valid Universal Print license and must be signed into their Microsoft 365 account associated with the print job.
    • Check that the Microsoft 365 mobile app on the user’s phone is up to date (Android version 16.0.16501 or later, iOS version 2.76 or later).
    • Sometimes the print job doesn’t make it to the Universal Print queue because of network or firewall settings. You can look in the Universal Print admin portal to see if the job is waiting to be printed. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/universal-print/fundamentals/universal-print-troubleshooting-support-howto
    • Confirm that your bizhub C300i printer supports Universal Print and has the latest firmware installed.

If after checking all these, it still doesn’t work, try re-registering the printer or updating its firmware. Also, make sure your network isn’t blocking Universal Print services.

These official docs might help you get more details and step-by-step guidance:

Hi, the QR you’re scanning isn’t tied to the UP queue that’s holding the job (or the printer isn’t a member of your Universal Print anywhere pull-print queue), so the mobile app says “job not found.” Fix fast: in the Universal Print portal open the printer - Properties - Job release options and ensure Secure release = QR code (print and use that QR, not the Konica-Minolta Mobile Print QR); if you’re using Print anywhere/Pull-print, open the pull-print printer share and confirm the physical device is listed under Member printers, only member devices can release jobs; make sure the job was actually sent to the pull-print queue (or to this exact direct printer if you’re not using anywhere), the user is licensed and signed into the Microsoft 365 mobile app with the same Entra ID, and the job is still in Held state (hasn’t expired); finally, confirm the device is UP-ready/connector-registered and “Accepting jobs.” Docs: QR secure release setup and mobile app requirements, “job not found after scanning” = add the printer as an anywhere member

I found the issue - work and school account has two accounts associated it with it and I had to change the vm to have system.

These two things fixed the issue. VM universal print connector - has system assigned so user can be identified.

Work or school account - had more than one account assigned so caused conflict.
