Windows shows external mic not plugged in even when it is

i have an external mic that i use to record audio, nowadays when i connect it to my pc it does not get detected and shows not plugged in even when it is. Sometimes it works without any issue and when i tried to look up how to fix this on youtube the guys switches his analog from realtex audio console which im unable to do as it is greyed out. Anyone know how to fix this? i wanna plug in my mic in the audio jack and use my earphones which are type c together. My laptop is lenovo legion 5 with gtx 1650. Help would be greatly appreciated.
