Hello,

There was a problematic update on August 12, 2025—KB5063875.

Then, a fix update was released on August 19, 2025—KB5066189.

We have about 500 users who get their quality updates deferred by 30 days, which means they will get the problematic update (KB5063875) in the 2nd week of September.

  1. When they get the problematic update (KB5063875) in the 2nd week of September, will it still require the fix update (KB5066189)?
  2. Will the fix update (KB5066189) also be deferred by 30 days from original release date?
  3. If they some how get the fix update (KB5066189) now and then the original problematic update (KB5063875) later in the 2nd week of September, will that require the fix update (KB5066189) again?

Thanks!

    Dear Patel, Niraj,

To clarify, if your users receive KB5063875 in the second week of September due to the 30-day deferral, they will still require KB5066189 to address the known issue. KB5066189 is designed as a cumulative fix and will be applicable regardless of when KB5063875 is installed. However, if your update deferral policy also applies to KB5066189, it will be deferred by 30 days from its original release date (August 19), meaning it would become available around the third week of September.

If KB5066189 is installed before KB5063875, the system may temporarily revert to the problematic behavior once KB5063875 is applied, depending on how the update stack is processed. In such cases, KB5066189 would need to be reinstalled or re-applied to ensure the fix remains active.

We recommend reviewing your update deployment strategy to ensure KB5066189 is available shortly after KB5063875 is installed. If needed, you may consider manually approving KB5066189 for earlier deployment to mitigate potential disruptions.

I hope this helps. Just kindly tick Accept Answer that others in the community facing similar issues can easily find the solution. Your contribution is highly appreciated.

    Best regards,
