How is the headset connected to the computer?
Are you using the headset jacks (audio output + mic input), combo jack (single connector for both), USB or Bluetooth?
Microphone records my sounds unwanted.

Headset with microphone records my sounds by default and it is not(!) the "listen to this device" problem, since I can tick that box and when I do, I can hear myself twice (like an echo). Please help me solve this problem, thank you!

The headset is connected to the PC via USB (single connector). I noticed that I can turn the volume up and down on the headset itself and if I turn it down a bit, the effect (hearing myself) is turning down faster than all other sounds. It is a sort of solution, but I'm still curious what is going on and the effect is still there, though managable. -

Right-click the volume icon on the taskbar > Sounds > Playback > Double-click the audio device > Levels tab > Is there a "Microphone" slider?

2025-08-27T07:25:46.7766667+00:00 There is no delay. I do find a slider (it says 'Headphone'), but it doesn't change anything. Also the mute unmute button doesn't do anything. The solution I found - turning down the volume - works good enough so we can leave it at that, but it is still strange!
