How to prevent the opened email overlapping with the original email list.

I use Google Chrome on my desktop computer. When I open an email it shows up on my Google calendar page. I used to be able just to click on the arrows that appear in the corners and adjust the size of the screen so it does not overlap with the list of the messages. Now the arrow function is not working for me. My screen size for messages appears to be locked. I have tried the resize and this large 4 sided icon appears, but it does not change the size of page when I drag it. Any ideas Thank you.

    Hi Catherine,

Thanks for reaching out, this kind of issue can really disrupt your workflow, and I’m here to help you sort it out.

The issue is likely caused by a combination of Gmail’s updated interface, browser zoom settings, or conflicting Chrome extensions that affect how the email layout is displayed and resized. To fix the Gmail layout issue where emails overlap and resizing doesn’t work, start by pressing Ctrl + 0 to reset your browser’s zoom to default. Then, go to chrome://extensions/ and disable any extensions that might be affecting Gmail’s layout. Try opening Gmail in an incognito window Ctrl + Shift + N to check if the issue persists, this helps identify if extensions are the cause. Clear your browser’s cache and cookies through Chrome’s settings under “Privacy and Security” to remove any corrupted data. You can also hold Shift and click an email to open it in a separate window, which avoids layout conflicts. Lastly, create a new Chrome profile in settings to test Gmail in a clean environment without existing settings or extensions.

I hope this information is helpful. If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please reach out and I will be more than happy to assist you.

    Dear Marc,

I am an 82 year old person who does not understand what goes on behind the screen and so I have tried to follow your instructions. I did manage to reset the browser's zoom. I did also inactivate all the extensions. My computer uses Chrome, but I don't see it, it works transparently behind the scenes. I do not use my gmail account. I only use it actively when I am overseas. I use sbcglobal.net with two different account names for my everyday computer needs. . I open and delete entries in my sbcglobalb

account, but this does nothing to the emails in gmail which just sit there. I have in the last two days deleted over 10,600 emails dating from 2020 until now. I cleared my browser through the means you suggest, and used the cookie cleaner app to clear cookies and empty trash. I don't know how to create a Chrome profile in settings to test Gmail in a clean enrvironment. I want to continue using the Google calendar and the chrome browser, but if I get rid of gmail, that may be what is feeding my sbcglobal account for my email.

Previously when I tried to switch over to the new version of outlook, I lost my second account of sbcglobal. So I had the Geek Squad just put back the classic version of Outlook when they could not put the second email account name in the new version. I have Microsoft 365 for Word, Excel, Publisher (no longer used). I do not use Microsoft Edge, but it does take over some of my data and stores it in somewhere. When I use Word, it finds it under Documents Personal, instead of my old use of my machine with its many headings.

To answer the query, the situation still exists of the overlapping p[ages, but it probaly is do to my inability to follow or precisely follow some of the steps. Thank you for trying to help me. I know that Microsoft keeps fighting my Google. My emails come in directly on my cell phone, but the computer lags by several minutes as I think they go from gmail to sbcglobal address.

I am worried when they force me to the new version of Outlook, which is on my machine, and when I have to have my info uploaded from my current machine to a new machine in the future.

Thank you for trying to help me.

    Catherine
