Is it possible to denote a team schedule owner to only be able to have owner permissions of a specific group within the team shifts? Or would a schedule owner have access to view, approve/deny, and change scheduling requests of any sub-group within the entire team through shifts?

    Hi @SA,

Good day to you! Welcome to Microsoft Q&A.

Regarding to your question, at this time, Microsoft Teams does not support assigning schedule owner permissions to only a specific group or subgroup within a team. When someone is designated as a Schedule Owner, they are granted access to manage the entire schedule for the team. This includes the ability to:

    • View and edit all shifts across all groups within the team.
    • Approve or deny time-off requests, shift swaps, and open shift claims.
    • Modify timesheets and publish schedules for any group under that team.

We understand that more granular control—such as limiting a schedule owner’s access to a specific group—would be valuable for organizations with large or diverse teams. While some of these behaviors are currently by design, I agree that there’s room for improvement. I’ve shared your feedback internally, and I’d also recommend submitting it directly through the Microsoft Feedback Portal so it can be reviewed and prioritized by the product team.

I recommend submitting your feedback via the Microsoft Feedback Portal or directly through any Microsoft 365 app by going to Help > Feedback or File > Feedback. Feedback with more votes is more likely to be reviewed and considered by the product team for future updates.
