Hello Me. You're not alone, this recent loss of saved passwords in Microsoft Edge is connected to Microsoft's update from August 2025, which finalized the migration away from storing passwords in the Authenticator app and consolidated all password options into Edge's new Wallet. If your Edge profile was not properly synced before the August update, or you were using Authenticator for autofill, your credentials may have been deleted with the push toward a passwordless future.
To recover what you can:
Check Edge Wallet: Open Edge and go to edge://wallet/passwords or navigate there via Settings > Profiles > Passwords. Ensure you're signed in with the right Microsoft account and that Sync is ON.
Check Sync Status: Go to Settings > Profiles > Sync and see if "Passwords" is enabled. If it was OFF before the update, your data may not have been backed up.
Authenticator Recovery (if applicable): If you previously used Microsoft Authenticator to store passwords, they were deleted as of August 1, 2025. Microsoft only moved synced data to Edge Wallet only and not generated password history and unsynced entries.
Check Backup: If you exported your passwords from Authenticator prior to the cutoff then you can simply re-import your passwords into Edge or transfer to a third-party password manager.
