I'm trying to connect my new outlook email account with thunderbird. For this to happen, the option "let devices use IMAP and POP" in the outlook settings (Forwarding and IMAP) has to be enabled.

Unfortunately it looks bugged. I switched it on but the Save button doesn't work. Every time I login, it stays disabled.

I've tried different browsers, private browsers, different laptops, desktop and mobile, created another account as well. Problem remains.

Any solutions?

Thank you

I confirm that using Outlook Web Settings -> Mail -> Forwarding and IMAP, [Save] is buggy. Even for an older account. It won't save the changed value after logoff.

And it is being reported by other users.

Hello Ren. When the “Let devices use IMAP” setting in Outlook.com fails to save after toggling it on and clicking “Save”, it is usually due to a backend sync delay, account age limitations, or browser issues. This is not uncommon for new Outlook accounts in which the IMAP settings may sometimes fail to save right away due to propagation delays caused by the syncing of the new account across Microsoft’s servers.

Additionally, refreshing the page or moving to a different browser too soon after toggling the setting can interrupt and fail to save the toggle. To test this out, after using Microsoft Edge in privacy mode, ensure that you toggled the IMAP setting, clicked “Save”, and didn’t refreshed the page instead, choose to close the settings panel and log out. Wait a few hours before trying again.

Alternatively, if that does not work the first point of call will be to use an older outlook account, then you will have to wait a day to a couple of days for the account to be provisioned totally.
