Thanks for reaching out. I am here to help and clarify the situation.
There are two different things here:
- A Windows Hello PIN is used to sign in to your computer.
- Microsoft 365 does not use a PIN to activate or sign in. It only needs the email address and password of your Microsoft account.
So if you are being asked for a PIN, that is your Windows Hello sign-in PIN, not something from Microsoft 365 Family.
However, let me clarify to better understand your concern.
- When you try to use Microsoft 365 Family, do you see a message specifically asking for a PIN, or is it asking for your Microsoft account sign-in for email and password?
- Have you already signed in with your Microsoft account at account.microsoft.com to confirm the Family subscription shows as active?
- Are you trying to install or open Word/Excel/Outlook when the PIN prompt appears, or does this happen at Windows sign-in?
- Have you ever set up a Windows Hello PIN on this device before, or is this your first time seeing this request?
- Are you using the same Microsoft account that was added to the Family subscription, or could this be a different account?
In the meantime, here’s what you can do:
- Check if you already have a PIN set up
- Go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.
- Under PIN (Windows Hello), it will say if one is already set.
- If you forgot your PIN
- On the Windows sign-in screen, choose I forgot my PIN.
- Follow the steps to reset it using your Microsoft account password.
- If you never created a PIN,
- Go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options > PIN (Windows Hello).
- Click Set up and follow the prompts to create a new one. Configure Windows Hello
- For Microsoft 365 Family
- Sign in with the email address and password of your Microsoft account at https://account.microsoft.com
- Once signed in, you should see your Microsoft 365 Family subscription listed. That’s what activates Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
There is no separate PIN required for Microsoft 365 Family. Only your Microsoft account email and password.
