Unable to activate Azure benefits in Microsoft Founders Hub – “Not eligible for Azure free account”

I’m trying to activate my Azure benefits through Microsoft Founders Hub. After completing all the required steps, I receive the following message:
"You're not eligible for an Azure free account. Don't worry—you can still use Azure by paying as you go, with no upfront commitments. Cancel anytime."
However:
My country is listed as eligible.
I meet the eligibility requirements for Founders Hub.
I used a valid Visa card with sufficient balance.
I have not used an Azure free account before.
Because of this, I cannot link or activate my Azure subscription to claim the Founders Hub benefits.
Could you please advise on how to resolve this issue?

When attempting to activate Azure credits through Microsoft Founders Hub, you may encounter a confusing message about being ineligible for an Azure free account. This message can be misleading because you are not trying to activate the general Azure free tier. Instead, you are aiming to claim the specific startup sponsorship credits provided through Founders Hub.
You can try to activate your Founders Hub Azure benefits:
- Use the same Microsoft account (MSA) you used to apply for the Founders Hub or Sign in • Microsoft for Startups
- On the Founders Hub dashboard, scroll to the Azure Benefits section and click “Activate Azure”.
- You should be taken to the Azure Sponsorship Portal (not the usual Azure Free Trial sign-up). This is important Founders Hub credits are managed as sponsorship, not as a standard free subscription.
- Complete the activation using the same account. Make sure you're logged in with the account owner credentials.
- After activation, check your Azure Sponsorship Balance page here: Azure Sponsorship Balance, you should see the Founders Hub credits applied.
- If the credits don’t appear immediately, wait a few hours. Sometimes there’s a delay between Founders Hub and Azure billing systems.
If after following this flow you still see the “not eligible for free account” error, it usually means the process is accidentally trying to route you through the regular Free Trial check, instead of the Sponsorship Portal. In that case, it’s worth Clearing cache/incognito and retrying the Founders Hub > Activate flow.
