How to check if my Windows Surface Pro 8 is still under warranty?

I purchased a Windows Surface pro 1 year and 9 months ago. We did not open the package until this week because we were still using the Windows Surface 4. It came out of the package and doesn't boot up OR charge properly. How can I have this repaired, and how can I confirm if is it still under warranty?

Thank you,

Lorna

    Hi Thorpe, Lorna,

Thanks for posting, and I’m sorry to hear your Surface Pro 8 isn’t powering on or charging properly.
That’s definitely frustrating, especially since it’s just been unboxed.

Here’s how you can check if it’s still under warranty and request a repair
Go to account.microsoft.com/devices and sign in with the Microsoft account used during purchase or registration.
Find your Surface Pro 8 in the list of devices.
You’ll see the warranty status and can start a repair order if needed.
Even though it’s been 1 year and 9 months since purchase, if you bought Microsoft Complete or
extended coverage, you might still be eligible for service.
Before requesting a repair, try these quick steps.
Use a different power outlet or charger to rule out adapter issues.
Force restart: Hold the Power button for 20–30 seconds.
Two-button reset (for Intel-based Surface): Hold Power + Volume Up for 15 seconds, then release and wait 10 seconds before turning it on.
If none of this work, you can start a service request from the same Devices page.

Let us know how it goes or if you need help with any of the steps!
