I am trying to create a child account and I am getting an error message as seen above. I have tried different browsers and different devices, each time I create the account, I can't login to it without it asking for guardian consent and when I try to give consent with my guardian account, it just gives the above error. I have tried it 2 months ago and now, the issue is the same.

Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

Hi, Parent or guardian consent is required for creating a Child account. Based on the description provided, it seems that you're having trouble creating a Child account.

Are you experiencing the same error when trying to provide consent to a Child account using both options?

    parent (1)

You can choose 'I am not a parent or guardian', then choose to email them for help. Then enter your email address, and once you provide consent, the child's account will be ready.

If you're having issues, open an incognito tab and try creating a new Microsoft account from https://outlook.live.com/ (Select create free account) and see if it helps.

Let me know how it goes.

    Hi,

I think the issue might be with the specific Microsoft account. If you can send the email to a different adult account to give consent, I think it should work.

If the problem is with your account, please try resetting your Microsoft password and see if you can give consent to your child's account.

If this is a personal account, please use the following link to reset the password: https://account.live.com/ResetPassword.aspx

After resetting your password, create a new Child account and provide consent. See if it works. If possible, try connecting your PC to a different network and try again.

Let me know how it goes.

Hi, if this is the situation, I recommend reaching out to Microsoft Accounts and Billing support directly to see what exactly the problem is with your Child's account.

    1. Go to this page: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/home/contact
    2. Type "Talk to an agent," then click Get Help.
    3. At the bottom of the page, click Contact Support. Please sign in to your Microsoft account if needed. If you are encountering the same issue when using the affected account, please use a different one to contact the Microsoft support team.
    4. Select "Other Products" > "Account Profile questions" > Confirm.
    5. Click Chat with a support agent in your web browser.

    Best regards,

    Gunasekar N
