Before providing you the accurate solution for this issue, can you confirm this following information:
- Are you using Teams on the web or Teams desktop app? Please switch between these 2 platforms and check where the issue persists.
- What is the affected operating system (Windows, MacOS, iOS, Android,…)?
- Are you using Teams on a local device or on any remote desktop?
In the meantime, you check try these basic troubleshoot steps that help other users resolved their issues:
Check Speaker Settings in Teams:
- Go to Settings and more > Settings > Devices.
- Under Audio settings, ensure the correct speaker is selected from the dropdown.
- If the device doesn’t appear, try charging (Bluetooth) or reconnecting (wired).
Make a Test Call:
- Use the Test Call Bot to record and play back a message.
- This helps verify if your speaker and mic setup is functioning correctly.
- Note: This feature is only available in English and not supported in the Teams web app.
Windows Sound Settings
- Go to System > Sound in Windows settings.
- Under Choose where to play sound, select your speaker.
- Make sure the volume is up and the device is not muted in the setting.
- If needed, go to Advanced > More sound settings to re-enable the speaker.

Clear Teams Cache
On Windows:
- Navigate to your Taskbar and look for the Microsoft Teams icon. Right-click the icon and choose Quit. This will force the Teams app to quit.
- Next, copy and paste the following location into File Explorer: %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams, and delete the contents of the entire folder.
- Restart Microsoft Teams by opening the application and logging back in.
On a Mac:
- Right-click the Teams icon in the taskbar and choose Quit.
- Next, delete the directory ~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams.
- Restart Microsoft Teams by opening the application and logging back in.
Note: Deleting the cache won't remove Microsoft Teams from your device, but will remove the web client cache, icons, thumbnails, local message history, your Teams display images, and any other Teams add-ons.
Additional basic steps
- Uninstall Teams > Restart computer > Download fresh copy from Microsoft
- If you're using Teams on the web, try switching to another browser to see if the issue still persists.
- Keeping Teams and your systems updated is crucial for optimal performance.
