Hi @Jonathan Jordan,
Good day! Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A forum and sharing the details of your issue.
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your experience. I understand how critical timely notifications are for staying connected and productive, and I sincerely apologize for the confusion and disruption this change has caused.
Regarding your concerns, please verify whether all affected users are operating on the same operating system and Teams client version (accessible via Settings → About → Version) to determine if the issue is platform-specific (web/application).
Besides, Microsoft currently introduced a new Threads experience in Teams. This update changed how notifications work for channel conversations:
The previous behavior was replaced to give users more control and reduce noise, but we understand this may feel unexpected.
Therefore, to ensure you receive alerts for threads you participate in, please follow these steps:
- Please recheck to ensure you enabled Auto-Follow for Threads
- In Teams, go to Settings > Notifications and activity (or Chats and channels).
- Under Followed threads, turn on:
- Threads you start
- Threads you reply to
- Threads where you’re @mentioned
- Configure setting notifications for followed threads
- In the same menu, find Replies to followed threads and posts.
- Ensure that Replies, Mentions, and Activity are all set to Banner and feed rather than Off.
- You also need to manually follow important threads
- In any channel, click More options (···) on a message and select Follow thread.
- You also can follow all content in a specific channel, select More channel options , and turn on the toggle next to Follow all.
These steps will restore the expected behavior without overwhelming you with notifications from unrelated conversations. Kindly refer the official document from Microsoft for detail information: Follow threads in Microsoft Teams - Microsoft Support and Manage channel notifications in Microsoft Teams - Microsoft Support
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we adapt to these updates. We’re here to ensure your Teams experience remains smooth and effective.
