How can I get auto-generated tasks from a Teams meeting to appear in the follow up tasks automatically?

I can create a Teams meeting, add an agenda, and see the "Follow- up tasks" section at the bottom where I can even manually add a task. I can start the meeting and start transcription, and view a transcript after the meeting with follow up task auto-generated ini that text. That is all great. However, I want those tasks to automatically go into the Follow-up tasks component so I don't have to manually add them. Less important, but aslo helpful, would be if the notes went into the notes section of the agenda. This seems like it would be straightforward, but I can't find any way to do this that wouldn't be a manual cut and paste.

There is a video demonstrating Team capabilities where this exact things seems to happen. I'll link at the time the presenter joins the meeting: https://youtu.be/9uEH72FMyJU?t=106

One thing I can see is that he manually started an "AI Notes" in the meeting. I don't have that little sparkle icon to press. However, when he does this, the notes do go into the notes area and tasks do go into the tasks module. Just what I want! I have a CoPilot license. I can see a section of the transcript that literally says "AI Notes". So, how can I get this to work for me? Has something changed with the product? Is there a licenseing issue with Teams? Does an administrator need to throw a switch somewhere? And how would I figure any of that out? Thanks!

    Hi @Tate Forgey

Good day to you! Welcome to Microsoft Q&A.

The behavior you observed in the demo video, where tasks and notes are automatically populated during a meeting is part of the Intelligent Meeting Recap experience. This feature includes real-time AI-generated notes, automatic task extraction, and seamless integration into the Recap tab.

To enable this functionality, the following conditions must be met:

    1. Licensing: You must have either a Microsoft 365 Copilot license or a Teams Premium license assigned to your account. While you mentioned having a Copilot license, please confirm with your administrator that it is properly provisioned and active.
    2. Facilitator App: The “sparkle” icon you referenced is associated with the Facilitator agent. This app must be enabled by your IT administrator. If it is blocked or not deployed, the AI Notes feature will not be available.
    3. Meeting Policies: Transcription and recording must be enabled in the Teams admin center. These settings are required for Intelligent Recap to function correctly.
    4. OneDrive Access: Notes generated during meetings are stored in the OneDrive of the user who initiates the AI Notes. Ensure your OneDrive is accessible and properly configured.

If you are not seeing the expected behavior, we recommend contacting your IT administrator to verify the following:

    • That your license includes Copilot or Teams Premium.
    • That the Facilitator app is allowed and not restricted by policy.
    • That transcription and recording are enabled for your account.
    • That your OneDrive is active and accessible.

Once these settings are confirmed, you should be able to start AI Notes during a meeting and have tasks and notes automatically populated in the appropriate sections.
