Dear @David Barrett,
Good day. Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum!
For better assist, please kindly let me know. May I kindly ask:
- Are you receiving this error when trying to add a guest in Microsoft Teams? Please provide a screenshot of the issue you're experiencing so I can better assist you.
- Are you an admin or a user?
- Are the users you’re trying to add part of the same organization, or are they external guests?
- Have you noticed any specific patterns (like whether certain users can be added while others can't)?
First of all, please check the Teams policy: Sometimes, the issue may be linked to Teams policies set in your organization. Check if there are any restrictions on adding users. As you can see in this post: Public Team can't add members/guests
This issue seems to be as the result of your lack of permission to add users in Teams group, you might need to raise the issue with your internal IT Teams to check your permission and assist with that.
This issue occurs when the value UsersPermissionToReadOtherUsersEnabled is set to False in Microsoft Entra ID. To correct the issue, change this setting to True.
For a detailed info on how, follow the link below: Error "We couldn't add member" when adding users to Teams
Note: If none of the above solutions work, let me know for further investigation. Please note that our initial response does not always resolve the issue immediately. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need further clarification.
Your understanding and co-operation are highly appreciated. Thank you for your precious time. Have a nice day!
