I am unable to import an existing git repository into ADO

I am unable to import an existing git repository into ADO

I have clicked the import button, I have provided the clone URL for my repository, clicked the checkbox Requires Authentication, entered my git username and passord. The URL, the username and password were all copied and pasted in ensuring their acuracy. I receive the following error message.

Import request cannot be processed due to one of the following reasons:

Clone URL is incorrect.
Clone URL requires authorization.
