I wish to to continue my use of Windows 10 over the year (i.e. 2026). I have Windows Version 22H2 which is the minimum version required for the Windows 10 ESU (i.e Extended Security Updates) Program, in lieu of transitioning to Windows 11! I looked in the Windows Security Settings but do not see an option for selecting enrollment in the ESU Program! Request guidance/assistance on this! Thanks!

    Hi, good day!

Microsoft is taking its usual gradual process to roll out the enrollment wizard in phases to all eligible Windows 10 devices worldwide.

Make sure that you've met all the requirements to enroll in the consumer (ESU) program and continue installing updates. It will automatically appear in your computer's Update & Security settings when it becomes available.

I read that if you have a PC that is capable, has the necessary hardware, etc and eligible to update to Windows 11 then you won't get the ESU link in your Windows Update.

It seems MS is having problems in the rollout causing slowness and besides there is a class action lawsuit pending against MS for killing Win10 which may add to the causes. I would much rather buy new computers next year with win11 factory installed than upgrading over an existing Win10 OS and possibly causing problems that I have read about here and in other forums to have to deal with after an upgrade. What you will need to do is just be patient and check in your Settings then Update and Security section daily and you will eventually see the ESU enrollment announcement if you meet all the criteria below.

    Prerequisites

To enroll in the consumer ESU program, make sure your device meets the following requirements:

Devices need to be running Windows 10, version 22H2 Home, Professional, Pro Education, or Workstation edition

    • Devices need to have the latest update installed
    • The Microsoft account used to sign in to the device must be an administrator account

The ESU license is tied to your Microsoft account, so you may be prompted to sign in if you typically sign into Windows with a local account

    • The Microsoft Account can’t be a child account

    Consumer ESU program cost

You can enroll in ESU by one of the following three ways:

    • At no additional cost if you are syncing your PC Settingss
    • Redeem 1,000 Microsoft Rewards points

One-time purchase of $30 USD or local currency equivalent plus applicable tax

    Respectfully,

    Don
