There is no export option for webp. Only JPG, PNG and TIFF are available. I am building a website with Dreamweaver on my Windows 11 laptop. As told, webp is more recommended for web publishing as it will save the loading time. What is the best way to convert jpg to webp from Windows 11?

Thanks

Windows does not yet fully support the webp image file type, you will need to use a 3rd party utility to convert your images to the webp format, you are correct, it is the best format for web developers to use.

You're right—many image editors like Dreamweaver don't natively support exporting WebP, but WebP is highly recommended for web use because of its excellent compression. About how to convert JPG to WebP. If you prefer a straightforward app with GUI, IrfenView with WebP plugin works well.

    Steps:

    1. Download and install IrfenView.
    2. Download the WebP plugin from the same site.
    3. Open your JPG file in IrfenView.
    4. Go to File > Save As..., and see if WebP appears as an option.
    5. If not, ensure the WebP plugin is properly installed.

The Photos app in Windows 11 is primarily designed for viewing and basic editing of images, and it doesn't support exporting or converting images to WebP format directly. That's why you don't see an option to export as WebP.

To convert JPG to WebP on Windows 11, you have several options:

1.Download the Windows version, and installer and follow the setup instructions

2.Launch XnConvert and add your JPG images

    • Click the "Add files" button to select individual JPG images
    • Or drag and drop your images into the window

3.Set the output format to WebP:

    Click on the "Output" tab

In the "Format" dropdown, select WebP

    4.Choose output folder:

Set the destination folder where you want to save the converted images

    5.Adjust settings:

    • Click the "Options" button next to WebP to configure quality, compression level, etc., if needed

    6.Convert JPG to WebP:

    Click the "Convert" button

XnConvert will process your images and save them as WebP files in the specified folder
