KB5063878 bricked my SSD

I recently re-installed Windows on one of my SSDs. After installation and updates, Windows couldn't find my other SSD. It's a Seagate FireCuda 520 1TB. I tried going into BIOS and I could see the drive. But when I go into Windows, it's not there. I tried Disk Management, still not there. I opened Device Manager, I see it under Disk Drives but if I scan for hardware changes, it disappears.

How can I fix my SSD?

    Hi,

Nice to meet you! My name is Randy and I'm an independent advisor.

If your Seagate FireCuda SSD disappeared after installing KB5063878, first check Device Manager > Storage Controllers and update or roll back the NVMe driver, since Windows updates can replace it with a faulty one. Try booting into Safe Mode to see if the drive stays visible, then uninstall KB5063878 via Windows Update history if the problem started right after it. Also check Seagate’s site for firmware updates, reseat or try another M.2 slot, and test the SSD with a bootable tool like SeaTools or a Linux live USB - if it works outside Windows, the issue is driver/update related; if not, the SSD itself may be failing.

    kind regards,

There are other posts on the forum about the problem with this update the Microsoft are reported to be investigating.

Other than uninstalling the update then pausing updates or using System Restore there is no other fix currently.
