How do I permanently kill Viva insights? I keep turning it off and it keeps re-enabling itself. I'm sick and tired of the constant "suggestions" and nagging from this unwanted tool. I don't have the permissions to delete it, but based on what I see in the menus I should be able to turn it off. The infuriating part is I've turned it off again, and again, and again but it keeps getting turned back on.

It is at the point where I turned it off and went right back into the menus where I disabled it, and it is turned back on.

How do I kill this nagware?!

    Hi @No,

    Welcome to Q&A Forum.

To address your question about disabling Viva Insights, let me share some relevant information that may help in your situation.

Viva Insights is a service managed at the organization level, and while individual users can adjust some personal settings, certain features may be automatically re-enabled due to policies set by your IT administrators. This is why, even after turning it off, it may appear again, your organization’s configuration is likely overriding your personal preferences.

Since you mentioned you don’t have permissions to delete or fully disable it, it’s likely that you’re not assigned an admin role in Microsoft 365.

To fully disable or remove Viva Insights, you have to contact your IT administrator to request that Viva Insights be disabled for your account. They can manage this through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center or PowerShell, depending on how Viva Insights is deployed in your environment.

As moderators of the Microsoft Community, our ability to make changes or provide direct fixes for tenant-level configurations is limited. I sincerely apologize that we’re unable to resolve this directly for you.

We truly appreciate your patience and understanding, and I encourage you to reach out to your IT team or admin for further assistance. If you have other concerns or questions, I’m here to support you however I can.

I need to clarify, I'm trying to turn off the productivity inline suggestions. While checking the name of the inline suggestions, I went into the menu and noticed it was turned back on, after I turned it off again today. How do I permanently disable viva inline suggestions/nagware?

    Hi @No,

    Thanks for the clarification.

The inline suggestions you're referring to are part of Viva Insights' productivity features, and while users can temporarily turn them off, they may be re-enabled automatically due to organization-wide policies or periodic service updates. This is why the setting doesn’t always stay off permanently.

To fully and permanently disable these suggestions, the change needs to be made by your IT administrator. They can manage this through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center by adjusting the Viva Insights configuration or disabling the feature for your account or group.

In your case, the most effective way to permanently disable Viva Insights Inline Suggestions is to request your administrator to remove the Viva Insights Service Plan from your account. This action can only be performed through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center and requires admin-level access.

    • Go to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.
    • Navigate to Users > Active Users.
    • Select the affected user(s). User's image
    • Under Licenses and Apps, uncheck Viva Insights.  User's image
    • Save changes.

This prevents Viva Insights from being re-enabled automatically and disables all inline suggestions and nudges.

I’ve done my best to support you within the scope of what’s possible from the user side, and I truly appreciate your patience.

Therefore, in this case, I recommend reaching out to your IT department for further assistance, as this issue falls outside the scope of what end users can typically resolve on their own.

If the issue continues after that, please don’t hesitate to follow up in this thread. I’ll be more than happy to support you with any additional troubleshooting steps for you and your admin.
