Remote desktop Stuck on welcome screen.

When trying to connect to Remote Desktop, the local laptop I am using to connect to the remote device gets stuck on the welcome screen that displays after you enter the password, but before you see the home screen. After a little, the program crashes, showing remote desktop error code 0x10b, Extended error code: 0x0. I have Windows 11 Pro, and I am certain the password is correct. What else might be the problem?

    Hi,

Thank you for reaching out regarding the issue you're experiencing with Remote Desktop on Windows 11 Pro. Based on your description, the session hangs at the welcome screen and eventually fails with error code 0x10b, even though the credentials are correct.

This behavior may be caused by one of the following:

    • A misconfigured Remote Desktop profile or group policy setting on the remote device

A conflict with third-party security software or firewall rules

A corrupted user profile or session cache on the remote machine

We recommend starting with these steps:

Ensure that Network Level Authentication (NLA) is enabled and supported on both devices.

Try connecting with a different user account to rule out profile-specific issues.

Restart the Remote Desktop Services on the remote machine and check for any pending updates.

Review the Event Viewer logs on the remote device for any session-related errors.

If the issue persists, we’d be happy to assist with deeper diagnostics.

    Best regards,

    Quinnie Quoc.
