we need to delete a vault and the associated enhanced policy which is locked immutable. we understand that will require support from Microsoft.

we do not care about losing the data. this is non-production data.

we want to move the vm's using it, to a new vault with a standard backup policy.

Thank you for asking this question on the Microsoft Q&A Platform.

Yes, you are right. You’ll need to contact Microsoft Support directly to request deletion of the vault and its locked policy.

Along with this process you can continue to back up your VMs to new Vault and policy by following below steps:

    1. Stop Protection and Reconfigure

Stop protection in the current vault (optionally retain data).

    2. Reconfigure backup in the new vault with the desired policy.

This will create a new initial backup in the new vault

Please Accept the answer if the information helped you. This will help us and others in the community as well.

    Many Thanks!
