Hello Hugh. When you re-added or modified your email account in Outlook, did you choose a manual setup, or let Outlook configure it automatically?
Here’s what you can try:
- In Outlook, go to File > Account Settings > Account Settings.
- Select your Optus account and click Change.
- Check whether the Account Type is set to IMAP.
- If it’s IMAP and you want emails to stay on your PC even after deleting them from the server, you’ll need to remove the account and re-add it using POP3 instead.
To switch to POP3:
- Remove the current Optus account from Outlook.
- Add it again, but choose Manual setup or additional server types.
- Select POP and use:
- Incoming server:
mail.optusnet.com.au
, port 110 - Outgoing server:
mail.optusnet.com.au
, port 25 or 587
- Incoming server:
- In More Settings > Advanced, enable “Leave a copy of messages on the server”.
This setup will store your emails locally, so even if they’re deleted from Optus Webmail, they’ll remain in Outlook.
