i need help, after performing windows update the device restarted now it doesn't start and it's stuck on "your device ran into a problem and needs to restart. We'll restart for you. stop code: INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE (0x7B)"

Start your PC, just as Windows attempts to load (spinning dots), press and hold Power Button for 5 - 10 seconds to perform a Hard Shut Down

Do this twice

On the third start Windows will boot into the Recovery Environment and from there you can access System Repair, Safe Mode, Command Prompt... etc.

Please try each option one at a time, then see if Windows will boot.

If there is an option to uninstall the update that caused the problem, that will be the best option.

Go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Option - Command Prompt

Run this command and press Enter.

bootrec /FixMbr

Run this command and press Enter.

bootrec /FixBoot

Run this command and press Enter.

bootrec /ScanOs

Run this command and press Enter.

bootrec /RebuildBcd

Then reboot your System to see if Windows will boot up normally.

Of those failed, in the Recovery Environment, try a System Restore, if that fails, try a Windows Reset while keeping your files.

Sorry, I was offline, resetting Windows will allow you to keep your files, but all software and apps will need to be re-installed.

this a new laptop, I'm going to have to pay twice for the same programs and there is no guarantee Microsoft won't repeat the same update problem.

tried to reset, but it says "there was a problem resetting your PC. No changes were made."

Open Command Prompt in the recovery environment.

Run this command and press Enter.

sfc /scannow

When that completes, run this command and hit Enter:

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

Then restart your PC to see if Windows will boot up normally, if not, really the only option remaining will be to clean install Windows on your system using a bootable Windows USB.
