I need to create a SQL MI in UK West but don't have the quota

I need to increase my quota to allow to deploy a SQL MI in UK West. 4 cores is fine.

To deploy a SQL Managed Instance (SQL MI) in the UK West Azure region and you're facing quota limitations, here's how you can request a quota increase

Steps to Request a Quota Increase in Azure Portal

Go to Azure Portal: Navigate to the Azure Portal.

Create a Support Request:

In the portal, search for "Help + support".

Click on "New support request".

Fill in the Request Details:

Issue type: Select "Service and subscription limits (quotas)".

Subscription: Choose the subscription where you want to deploy SQL MI.

Quota type: Type sql and select "SQL Database Managed Instance".

Click Next: Solutions.

Additional Details:

Under Problem details, click "Enter details".

In the Quota details window:

Choose "vCores per subscription".

Select UK West as the location.

Enter the desired quota (e.g., 4 vCores).

Click Save and continue.

Review and Submit:

Complete the remaining fields.

Click Next: Review + create, then create to submit your request.

The UI has changed to be more "helpful". The best I can do is get here which then loops me back to the same out of date instructions. No doubt a 100% reduction in support requests!

@Christian Bolton Did you follow my instructions precisely? I ask because, based on your screenshot it appears it has some knowledge you are asking about SQL MI, which it wouldn't have if you followed my instructions precisely.

Please click the Start again button as shown in your screenshot, and then start my instructions all the way at Step#1.

If necessary I can send you link to share your screen and I'll walk you through it. Usually this isn't needed, but if you get stuck in endless loop too many times and want to pull your hair out it can help. :)

Hi Christian,

Please carefully follow my instructions below to create a new Service and subscription limits (quotas) request to allow access to deploy Azure SQL Database Managed Instance in UK West. Note that some subscription types (e.g. Free, Student) do not allow quota increase.

1. Navigate to this link to start the process:

https://portal.azure.com/#create/Microsoft.Support

2. Enter quota in the box and click Go

3. Select Others / Service and subscription limits (quotas) and click Next

4. Click Create a support request button, as shown

5. Select Issue type: Service and subscription limits (quotas), Subscription, Quota type: SQL Database Managed Instance, click Next

6. Now you should be on Additional details tab. Click Enter details

7. Select (Europe) UK West for Region, enter number of Subnet and vCores you are requesting in New limit column and click Save and continue

8. Finish filling out Additional details tab, click Next, review and click Create. You should receive an automated email within a few minutes.
