    Hi Stu,

This is April, I'll be happy to assist you. Sorry to hear that you're having issue with Microsoft account password. Let me help you out.

Based on the description you provided, it seems you're attempting to access BIOS/UEFI settings or run an operation that requires administrative access via the Command Prompt, but your Microsoft account password isn't being accepted even after a reset. Let's break down the issue and troubleshoot it based on the goal of updating UEFI to enable Windows 11 upgrade.

It's important to note that your Microsoft account password is not the same as your BIOS or UEFI password, they are completely separate. If you're being prompted in Command Prompt during recovery or login, it might be asking for your Windows (local or Microsoft) account credentials.

May I know what is the exact scenario or error/prompt message that you are seeing?

Can you confirm if you are being asked for a BIOS password or a Windows account password?

    1. Accessing BIOS/UEFI Directly:
    • You don't need Command Prompt to access BIOS/UEFI instead:
      1. Restart your computer
      2. During boot, repeatedly tap the key for your system's BIOS access. Common keys: Del, F2, F10 or Esc
      3. This will open BIOS/UEFI firmware interface
    • Once you're in, look for and confirm the following settings:
      • Secure Boot: Enabled
      • TPM 2.0: Enabled (can be listed as fTPM or PTT)
      • Boot Mode: UEFI (not legacy)
    1. Opening Command Prompt as Administrator
    • To open Command Prompt as admin in Windows:
      1. Press Win + S and type cmd
      2. Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator
      3. Enter Microsoft account password if prompted
      4. If you're signed in as local account, make sure you are using that password instead.
    1. Switch to a Local account (Optional)
    • If you're still having trouble with your Microsoft account password, you can temporarily switch to local account:
      1. Go to Settings > Accounts > Your info
      2. Select "Sign in with a local account instead"

I hope this helps. If the issue continues, please don’t hesitate to contact us again.

We’re here to help, and we appreciate your continued trust in us.

    Warm Regards,

    April P.
