Outlook iOS user info button unresponsive unless on the "People" tab

Outlook mobile version 39461438 (4.2532.0)
iOS 18.6.2

iPhone 16 Pro Max

After tapping the magnifying glass icon to search for a user in Outlook on iOS and searching for a person there is a box with that person's name, title, and picture that, if tapped while still showing "All" results, is unresponsive. If "People" is selected the same box with the name and info is shown but now tapping that box will open that user's info page.

Previously we have been able to tap the box with the person's info on the initial search page without tapping "People" first.

    Hi @Spratt, Ross,

Good day to you! Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

The issue you're experiencing with Outlook for iOS - where tapping a user's info card in the "All" search results doesn't respond unless you're on the "People" tab - is a known behavior change in recent versions of the app.

Here are a few things you can do to troubleshoot and potentially fix the issue:

    1. Reset Spotlight Search Index

Several users have reported improvements after resetting this index:

    • Tap your profile icon in Outlook for iOS.
    • Tap the question mark (?) icon.

    User's image

    • Select “Reset Spotlight Search Index”.

    User's image

    • Restart Outlook and try again. This has helped fix similar search-related issues in the past.

    2. Reinstall the app

    • If resetting doesn’t help, try removing the app and reinstalling it from the App Store. This can clear buffed data and minor glitches.

    3. Use the People Tab

    • As a dependable workaround: after searching, tap the People tab to ensure the contact card is responsive.

    4. Submit Feedback to Microsoft

    • Open Outlook > Tap your profile icon > Go to Help & Feedback > Send Feedback > Tap Make a suggestion or Report a problem. This help Microsoft prioritize a fix for many users.

This appears to be a UI behavior change or potential bug in the current version (4.2532.0) of Outlook for iOS on iOS 18.6.2. While it’s inconvenient, using the People tab is a reliable workaround.

I hope this information is helpful. Please follow these steps and let me know if it works for you. If not, we can work together to resolve this.

Thank you for your patience and your understanding. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.
