I have one user that every few days, Teams says it needs permission to access your camera. However, when I check the permissions it already is set correctly. The device settings in Teams is set correctly too. I have reinstalled Teams (several times) I have even reinstalled Windows. Everything is updated (Windows, Teams, drivers). This does not happen every day. What can I do??

    Hi @Rich Neumuller

Thank you for reaching out to the Q&A forum!

To assist you better, could you help me with the following:

    • Is the user signed in with a personal Microsoft account (like outlook.com or hotmail.com), or with a work or school account?
    • Does the issue happen when using the Teams desktop app, the web version, or both?
    • Is the camera built into the laptop or is it an external USB camera?
    • If it’s an external camera, have you tried switching USB ports or tested with a different camera?
    • As mentioned in your post, the camera permission is set correctly. Could you confirm if you have checked it as the following steps:

Open the Settings app on the device.

Go to Privacy & security > App permissions > Camera  User's image

Make sure “Let apps access your camera” is turned on.

Under that section, confirm that Microsoft Teams (if it's a work or school account) is also turned on.

If it’s already on, toggle it off and back on again.

Close all apps and restart the device.

    • Could you also provide a screenshot of the permission pop-up when Teams asks for camera access and a screenshot of the camera settings in Teams?

Kindly let me know your responses to the above questions, and feel free to share any other details you think might help us resolve the issue. Please understand that our initial response may not always resolve the issue immediately. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.

    Look forward for your response.

    Hi,

The user is signed in with a work or school account.

He has not tried the web version. Since it only happens peridically.

The Camera is built in to the Dell Latitude.

This is been an on and off issue for months. I have talked to Dell support and we have reinstalled Windows 11 and they updated drivers.
