I purchased a laptop from Costco with Windows 1o Home installed. Recently the motherboard was replaced, and the repairman installed Window 11. I want to reinstall Windows 10 with the license that I had from the original purchase. How do I get that done? The drive was wiped clean by the repairman.

Hi, I am Van. I'll be glad to assist you today.

May I ask for additional information about your license key? Did you purchase the license key separately, or was it preinstalled on your previous device?

If you purchase the license separately and have a copy of the product key, you can perform a direct clean install of Windows 10 Home and use the license key to activate the operating system.

If Windows is preinstalled and activated on your previous device. It is commonly activated using an OEM license. This type of license is embedded on the motherboard once it is used. Since the motherboard was replaced, you will not be able to use the license on the new motherboard after reinstalling Windows 10.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance. I will be glad to help.
