How do I fix Read Aloud problem? HELP PLEASE. ( Details below )

I used Microsoft Edge for the Read Aloud function on PDFS and now all of a sudden the Read Aloud is not working right. I pick a chapter I want to read and it will not work, it goes right to the main page and starts reading that instead. I looked and I have the latest update, I cleaned the cookies/cache, and I even tried the reset setting, but nothing has worked. How do I fix this problem???

    I can't believe that Microsoft will not address this problem that has been going on with PDF documents for more than a year now. It has gotten worse. Using the "Reading Aloud" feature for emails, and plain text documents, this happens all the time when it comes across an "&" character the application does not read it, it jumps to the next paragraph.

    Microsoft needs to FIX this problem. MSFT is a $3 Trillion company, and they should fix their product ASAP. Apple can read "Aloud' without any problem. Maybe it is time to switch!

    Try this

    1. Type 'CMD' in search and click 'Run as Administrator'. This will load the command prompt in administrator mode.
    2. Type 'netsh winsock reset' and press enter. This will reset Winstock catalog.
    3. Restart the computer

    Read aloud should work for pdf on Edge now.

    I have this same problem. I switched from Firefox to Edge and use "Read Aloud" to read college books in PDF. Read aloud seems to be broken as it is very very laggy, takes 3+ minutes prepare to read, and then jumps to the top of the PDF document. I am running Windows 11, 24H2, with Edge Version 131.0.2903.70 (Official build) (64-bit).

    Seems I am not alone here. Suggestion to Microsoft, if features are broken, roll them out of the product while you work on them. Never a good idea to release broken features and leave them broken for years. The evidence is in the feedback on this posting.

    it works because flexi pdf reader is opening the pdf-file as a webpage and as we all know the "read aloud" function of ms edge still works fine on webpages (html). so far every pdf-file has to be opened separately through the addon. i can help with that.
