Edge Text to Speech Skipping Paragraphs with Ampersands ("&")

When I use Edge's text to speech feature, I notice that it skips text to the next paragraph as soon as it encounters an ampersand.

I encountered the problem on this page for example:

Sonic & Knuckles - Wikipedia

Microsoft Edge | Audio and video playback | Windows 10

    Hi James.

Thanks for your post in Microsoft Community. In your description, you found that the & match seems to be skipped when using Read Out Loud in Edge.

We've tested this on a test machine using Edge and Edge Beta, and found that when using Read Aloud, there seems to be a very short sound when the & symbol is read, which is very much like a short “an”, and which is different from the “and”. This sound is very similar to a short “an”, and this sound is different from “and”, which may be a shortened version of “and”.

You can listen carefully again and see if it's the same as what I said.

If you think this is bothering you, or if you have a different idea or opinion on this, please go to Edge, click on the top right “...” graphic on the top right, and then select “Help and feedback” to send your question there.

If you have any other questions, please continue to contact me, thank you for your support and understanding.

    Best regards,

    Hello Zev,

Thank you for responding. However, my issue is still not resolved. I am not concerned about whether the "&" produces an "an" sound; instead, I am concerned with the read aloud feature skipping to the next paragraph as soon as it is encountered. This means that the parts of the paragraph after the "&" are skipped.

    Sincerely,

    James

    Hi James.

Thank you for your reply. I apologize for not understanding your needs correctly. We tested it again, we selected the main paragraphs in the article you gave us the link to, then right-clicked and clicked “Read Selected Content Out Loud”, we found that it read the & symbols and the subsequent content smoothly, and we didn't find the problem you mentioned (it skipped to the next paragraph when it encountered the & symbols).

This may be a problem with your Edge, please try the following steps to clear Edge's cache and then try reading aloud again:

1After you open your Edge browser, click “...” on the top right. and then click “Settings”.

2 In the left navigation bar, find the Privacy, Search and Services section.

3 Find Clear browsing data, in the clear browsing data now section, click choose what to clear, then check all the options and click “OK”.

After that, check if the same problem occurs.

Hi Zev, did the fix that the MS agent recommended work for you? I'm also experiencing the same issue.
