Access: Report not updating from a form. Form linked to other reports that all update.

Good day, Ladies and Gents.

I have a split access database, which has been loaded onto Access Runtime.

I have one report which is not updating the information entered into the form.

The form is linked to other reports which all update.

I have tested the split database on my second computer and the report updates fine.

Could this be an issue with the instillation on the front-end. All other reports, queries and forms are working perfectly.

Your advice will be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

Alan,

It may be that the report in the first machine's front end file has become corrupted. Try copying it to the clipboard and then pasting it back under a new name. Open the new copy and see if that correctly returns the data from the table. If it does then delete the original report and rename the copy back to the original name.

    Hi @Alan Fealey

Based on your description, we understand that you're encountering an issue with the access report where data cannot be updated on your device, although it works correctly on another device. We are glad to assist you this part.

To troubleshoot it effectively, could you provide additional information due to the following question:

    • Have you checked whether the Access Runtime versions match on both devices?Ensure the Access Runtime version on the primary computer matches the one on the second computer. Mismatched versions can cause inconsistencies, especially with report rendering
    • Are there any error messages when you run the report on the primary computer, or does the form simply fail to display any data?

If it possible could you try to:

    • Replace the Front-End File from second device to the primary one ( This can help you to avoid issues caused by a corrupted front-end).
    • Reinstall Access Runtime ( Ensure this match with the second computer version).

If you need further assistance, please  let us know.

    Hi Hin-V

    Thank you for your reply.

The Access Runtime versions are not on my computers.

I was asked to design a database.

I design the database on my first computer,

I then split the database with encrypted front end.

I email the back-end .accdb file and front end accde file as ZIP files.

Access Runtime was then loaded on each computer.

The back end was set up on the server. Each individual computer as a separate front-end accde file.

The issue with the report not updating is on the individual computers, I tested on two separate computers, and both did not update the report.

The one report which is not updating, the information entered into the form.

The form is linked to other reports, which all update.

I then email the back end .accdb file and front end accde file as ZIP files to my second computer, I then tested on my second computer.

I then entered information into the form and the report updates perfectly.

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you.

It sounds like you did not correctly link the non-functioning FE accdes to the back-end accdb. That will need to be done prior to converting the FE accdb to an accde.

It's highly unlikely to be the case that different "versions" of an Access FE accde itself are the problem unless it is due to the potential linking problem.

Do you use mapped drives in your organization for the shared folder where the BE accdb resides? If so, it's necessary to ensure that the linked tables use the same drive mapping. Even better is to use UNC naming, not mapped drives for the link to the BE accdb on the shared drive.

One additional consideration is whether you designated the folders on the users' computers as Trusted Locations.
