Time indicator bar in Microsoft Calendar is not updating

The new Outlook Calendar indicator seems to freeze and does not update as the day moves. Is this a bug that needs fixing or is there a refresh option I need to use? Any help would be great. I didn't realise how much I used the indicator to see what was next in the calendar until I realised I was an hour further along than I thought I was. (I know the time is on the side and my clock works but if the function is there, I'd love to be able to use it).

{It was 9.41am when I took the screen shot}

I opened a case with Microsoft - after 2 days they've responded that this is now recognized as a known issue.

I****ssue Description: Time indicator bar in Microsoft Calendar for New Outlook is not updating.

Resolution: This is a known issue. This behavior has been acknowledged by Microsoft’s Product Group (PG)/Engineering Team, and the issue is currently under active investigation. However, at this time, there is no estimated timeline (ETA) available for a resolution.

Update 3: We've deployed our code change to our internal test environment where we've validated its efficacy in remediating the impact. We've begun deploying the code change to the affected infrastructure, with deployment currently at 10 percent saturation. We'll aim to provide a timeline for the deployment to complete by our next scheduled communications update (i.e. Fri 8/29).

Update 2: A Service Incident has been published on SHD, EX1141935, see screenshot below.

Update 1: This issue has been fixed and fix has started rolling out to internal rings for verification. If everything worked out well and we don't discover any issues with it, it will start rolling out to WW builds on Wed 8/27 for all M365 tenants.

Hi @Amanda.S Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.
To better assistance, could you please confirm detail below:

    • Have you tried opening Outlook Web Application version (OWA)? Does the issue persists?
    • Does the time indicator stop moving after your computer goes to sleep or when Outlook is minimized?
    • Does it start working again if you restart Outlook or switch calendar views?
    • Could you please attach the screenshot again? It seems not loading.

In the meantime, I recommend some steps below:
1/ Trying login to Outlook Web to see if the issue persist

2/ Clicking Today in the calendar or switch views (Day => Week => Day) to refresh the screen.

    3/ Clearing Outlook Cache

    • Press the Windows + R keys at the same time to open the Run box. Type the following path into the box and press Enter. %localappdata%\Microsoft\Outlook
    • It’ll open a folder containing your Outlook profile and cache files. You want to find the folder that says RoamCache and double-click on it to open it.
    • All the files that you currently see on your screen are the Outlook cache files. To get rid of these files, select them all by pressing Ctrl + A on your keyboard, right-click on any one file, and select the Delete option.

    4/ Repair New Outlook

Repair New Outlook via Windows Settings => Apps => New Outlook => Advanced options => RepairUntitled

Note: Please understand that our initial response does not always resolve the issue immediately. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.

Your detailed response will help us diagnose and investigate the issue more efficiently. If I misunderstood what you’re looking for, feel free to let me know or share a screenshot. I’d be happy to help further!

Thank you for your cooperation. I'm looking forward for your reply.

All - Per Cossy Cosmas note above - the Windows update - 2025-08 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 24H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5063878) (26100.4946) "MIGHT" resolve this issue.

I just downloaded and installed it. I have been testing all day... It seems like the issue is still occurring. It is currently 4pm Mountain and my timebar is indicating 3:35 pm Mountain.

    Issue is still occuring.

I have had the same problem also for a few days now.

When I use OWA this problem is not present. If I click 'today' or switch view to Month/Week etc. this does not change the problem. When I switched between the old outlook (where the problem did not appear) and then back to the new outlook, the time updated but then gradually it degraded back to being out of sync.

Time also seemed to stop from when I was working yesterday and now the time indicator is stuck on yesterday's date.

I've since followed the Cache clearing/repair instructions that you indicate @AlexDN and will monitor.
